Although less common than beer brewed with fruit, vegetables can also be a beer ingredient, providing either flavoring or fermentables. Because many culinary vegetables are technically fruit, many vegetable beers can be placed in either the fruit or vegetable category.
Most vegetable beers are one-off specialties or experiments. However, there are two vegetables which are used in brewing commonly enough to be notable: pumpkin and hot peppers.
