A Growler is glass jug used for beer, typically 1/2 gallon.  They are commonly sold at brewpubs for patrons to purchase draft beer to take home, and may be filled directly from the tap.  They typically have a screw top, but fancier varieties may have a porcelain swing-top.  Growlers are generally meant to be consumed within a few days if filled on-the-spot.
