The Champion Beer of Britain, or CBOB, is a competition sponsored by CAMRA to find the best real ale brewed in Britain for a given year.

Eligibility

While the competition is called "Champion Beer," in fact it is limited to the narrower category of Real Ale; British lagers and force carbonated beers are not eligible. Entrants are selected by a panel of experts, by regional competitions, and by write-in vote by CAMRA members.

The Competition

The judging ordinarily takes place at the Great British Beer Festival in August, and the winner is announced at the festival.

Associated Competitions

In addition to the CBOB, CAMRA also sponsors separate competitions for the Champion Beer of Scotland and Champion Beer of Wales.
