Please review the hops category page, this list is already available and is populated automatically using the category tags. --Bradsul 09:24, 13 August 2007 (CDT)

I don't think the category format works very well for this task, frankly. Categories can't include red links, meaning there's no way to list a new hop variety without adding a stub, which clutters up the wiki and confuses your red and blue links. In general, it's much better practice to use red links as placeholders than empty stubs. It also makes the information easier to view on one page, which I think is more appropriate for this kind of content. And it's no more work to add a link to a list than it is to add a category tag to a page. Chapka 08:10, 14 August 2007 (CDT)

For example, see the current version (still a work in progress); it contains two features you can't do with categories. First, there are entries listed for hops for which there are currently no pages or stubs; these will stay as red links or in some cases even black links (for example, for hops which are never available to homebrewers and therefore do not need detail pages). Second, the American Saaz entry notes the actual country of origin and contains a link to the Czech entry. You can't do either with a category. Chapka 09:40, 14 August 2007 (CDT)

Nice work! I see what you mean about the cross-referencing. I'm not a fan of huge long wiki pages but this one works. Thanks for all your efforts so far! --Bradsul 23:03, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
