This article discusses a specific variety of hops. For general information about selecting, using or propogating hops, see the main hop page
Hops sold as New Zealand Hallertau or New Zealand Hallertauer are not simply Hallertauer Mittelfrüher hops grown in New Zealand, as the name might suggest, but a new triploid cultivar developed in New Zealand, with a heritage that is two-thirds Hallertauer Mittelfrüher and one-third native New Zealand hop. The resulting hop is a clean dual-purpose lager hop with a floral and lime zest character.
