Although less common than beer brewed with fruit, vegetables can also be a beer ingredient, providing either flavoring or fermentables. Because many culinary vegetables are technically fruit, many vegetable beers can be placed in either category.
Most vegetable beers are one-off specialties or experiments. However, there are two vegetables which are used in brewing commonly enough to be notable: pumpkin and hot peppers.
