Derived from Whitbread Goldings Variety and a dwarf male, First Gold was one of the first Hedgerow hop varieties available to the home and commercial brewers. It combines good bittering properties with a woody, minty flavor and aroma that has been compared to WGV and to Fuggle.
Considerable areas of First Gold are being planned and there is significant interest already from Britain's traditional ale brewers for bittering and for late and dry hopping.
